|Florence (I did not take this photo but hopefully by next week I'll have one like it)|
In four hours, we're taking the ferry over to Athens and spending the night in the Athens airport (well, most of the group anyway). Then at 10:30 AM tomorrow, we will leave Greece for the first time in over a month! We have a 10-day Fall Break and our group of 16 is splitting down into several smaller groups and heading out to various locations in Europe:
2 to Rome
3 to Rome, Venice, & Paris
1 to the Greek Islands (with her mom)
2 to Prague, Munich, & Paris
6 to Rome, Florence, & Venice
2 to Rome, Florence, Venice, & Paris
Brandon and I are that last pair. We're visiting the largest number of cities, but we're only spending 1 day in Rome, so hopefully it won't be too much (we're only visiting Rome because it was cheaper to fly there). We'll be in Rome for 1 day, Florence for 2, Venice for 2, and Paris for 4. I think I'm most excited for Venice, but I also can't wait to go back to Paris.
Our maps are marked up with amazing places in every city. In Italy, you've got the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, Florence Cathedral, Santa Maria Novella, Ponte Vecchio, St. Mark's Cathedral, and Doge's Palace. In Paris, I'm excited to go back to Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, the Louvre, etc., but we've also written down a few places I didn't get to see when I visited in 2008, like Place des Vosges, Jardin des Tuileries (which we might have seen, but only in the rain), and Pere-Lachaise cemetery (where Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison are buried). I'm also excited for the food- pizza, pasta, gelato, baguettes, quiche, wine, crepes . . . :)
We arrive back in Aigina on Sunday, October 16th and hopefully I'll be able to post a little that day because the next day, we'll be off traveling again. At the very least, I'll be sure to upload a few pictures (of the thousands I'm sure to take).
Until then, ciao!
